Press Release
July 1, 2015
Red Bank, NJ
Stephy's Place, a new life support center for grief and loss, will open its doors on Tuesday, September 1, 2015,
at 210 West Front Street, Suite 209, Red Bank, in the Swede Chevalier building.
Stephy's Place invites anyone struggling with the loss of a loved one to visit. The grief support center will offer weekly one-on-one and group bereavement support meetings as well as meditation sessions at no charge. “We want to offer compassion, friendship, and a place for those grieving to share,” says Sheila Martello, director of Stephy's Place. “Anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one should not have to navigate the grief journey alone.”
As a member of a 9/11 support group, Martello is one of a handful of area residents who found comfort with peer support. The loss of a loved one forces the grieving to face a new reality with the same demands of everyday life. Stephy’s Place, named after an area woman who lost her life to cancer, is a free “safe” place for anyone who has experienced loss -- through death or divorce -- with the purpose of sharing faith, hope and love in a group setting.
A kick-off event on the eve of Stephy’s Place’s official opening will feature Kevin Keelen, grief support speaker, presenting a talk entitled “The Roller Coaster of Grief” on Monday August 31 at 7:00pm at the Knights of Columbus, 200 Fair Haven Road, Fair Haven. Admittance is free and all are welcome.
